Until the sun comes up to swallow me whole

zebra

Honey, I got lost in the kitchen again
With my imaginary old friends
All these bottles aren’t mine

Lately, the wind is whispering words to me
Some sort of beautiful eulogy
I barely noticed I had no shoes on and it had gotten late

Valentine Road

I composed an original score for a fantastic documentary called Valentine Road. I’m very proud to be involved in this powerful and important film, which will debut in a couple of weeks at the Sundance Film Festival. More details soon on when and where to watch it.

Paw City

Someone Else: Oh what’s Paw City?

Me: Wait how did you even hear about Paw CIty?

Someone Else: It’s right there in the subject line. You mentioned it. Sorry, I didn’t mean anything by it…

Me: No that’s my bad. I’m a little jumpy and haven’t slept in a while. Go ahead and start again from the top.

Someone Else: So what’s Paw City?

Me: Glad you asked. Ariana Murray and I made a 5-song EP and we’re calling this project PAW CITY. Let me paint the mood. Some coffee was pressed. Keyboards were droned on. Electric guitars were plugged into amps. Fuzz bass made an appearance. We sang together and did handclaps. Some birds outside were determined to have the last word. All of this took place in our little studio called The Peanut Dungeon.

Someone Else: Why is it called The Peanut Dungeon?

Me: It’s a special quarantined area where peanuts are not allowed within 500 feet.

Someone Else: That’s weird.

Me: You’re weird. Next question.

Someone Else: Then what happened?

Me: Whoa, what is this an interrogation? Fine, I’ll tell you. We took these songs over to Norm Block’s studio and he tastefully pummeled the drums while PLAY and RECORD were simultaneously armed. He did it quickly. He was inspired.

Someone Else: Serious?

Me: As a heart attack.

Someone Else: When and how will this EP be released?

Me: This will be the second release on the Peanut Dungeon label. Digital for now, available on Bandcamp.

Someone Else: Cool, but you didn’t say when…

Me: What are you double-parked or something? Late-August. I’ll shoot up a flare when it’s ready for download.

Someone Else: What are your hopes, dreams and fears regarding Paw City?

Me: To be heard.

Someone Else: Come again?

Me: You heard me.

Someone Else: Thank you for your time and being such a consummate professional.

Me: Get off my property before I release the hounds.
